We have an exciting opportunity for a Lettings Officer to assist in the delivery of a high-quality customer focused service in line with Saffron's business objectives. The role will include responsibility for ensuring all lettings and mutual exchanges are carried out swiftly, and that key functions and activities within the team are delivered within set policies and timescales ensuring that all tenants receive a first-class service.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- A primary focus on contributing to the voids performance by carrying out the processing and interviewing of prospective tenants, attending property viewings with prospective tenants as well as signing up new tenants.
- Understanding the needs of any future tenants and their suitability into their home.
- To communicate with prospective tenants and stakeholders, providing lettings advice and keeping all parties informed and updated on the application process when nominated to a Saffron home.
- Assist our tenants to move into their new home by providing support and quality advice on the voids and lettings process.
- Advising and signposting to services to ensure tenants have any available support.
- To work continuously with improving the service and contributing to the development and implementation of new policies and procedures to meet the changing demands of Saffron and our tenants' needs.
- Process and manage mutual exchanges, including offering advice to tenants who may require moving options advice.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Good knowledge of housing legislation and guidance including homelessness and landlord and tenant law.
- A working knowledge of voids and lettings, and awareness of best practice in these areas.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of audiences, including landlords, solicitors and vulnerable customers, in a courteous and professional manner and at times in stressful situations.
- Ability to cultivate productive working relationships and networks, liaising effectively with other agencies, providers, other service areas within Saffron Housing Trust and voluntary groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence people to achieve effective outcomes, and the ability to resolve difficult and confrontational situations.
- Logical and structured approach to problem solving with the ability to be creative and innovative when appropriate.
- Ability to manage, capture and maintain highly accurate information ensuring it is completed in a timely manner within target timescales and to maintain accurate information on databases.
- Ability to operate effectively in a changing environment, to develop and acquire new skills and knowledge.
- Highly IT literate - skilled in all Microsoft packages.
