We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Tax Manager to work within our UK Private Client Team and become part of the team which provides a wide range of services to private individuals, families and their associated entities. These services include personal and trust tax compliance, tax advisory support, and general private client project work. We can offer varied and interesting work within the team, and the successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of a client’s UK tax compliance affairs.
As a key member of this team, you will provide a wide range of tax compliance and advisory services to private clients and their businesses. The successful candidate will predominantly support partners and directors in the delivery of high‑quality personal tax and trust compliance services to the team’s clients, ensuring deadlines are met and technical standards are maintained.
The Responsibilities- Managing a portfolio of private clients, with responsibility for the delivery of high‑quality UK personal tax and trust tax compliance services, as well as any ad hoc advisory work arising from those relationships.
- Reviewing UK self‑assessment tax returns, trust and estate tax returns, and associated computations for individuals, trustees and partnerships.
- Ensuring all compliance deadlines are met, including liaising with clients to obtain information in a timely manner.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients on tax compliance matters, building strong and trusted relationships.
- Supporting partners and directors with technical input on complex tax compliance issues, including residency, domicile, remittances and capital taxes.
- Managing HMRC correspondence and enquiries, including preparing responses and supporting partners on more complex matters.
- Liaising with other service lines (e.g. corporate tax, accounts, VAT and financial planning) to deliver joined‑up client solutions.
- Identifying areas where clients may benefit from additional advisory services and escalating opportunities appropriately.
- Budgeting, monitoring recoveries and supporting invoicing for client portfolios.
- Delegating work effectively to junior team members and reviewing their work to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Coaching, training and developing junior staff within the UK Private Client Team.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of tax compliance processes and internal best practice.
The UK Private Client Team consists of 5 Partners and close to 30 members of staff. This team advises wealthy individuals and families, and deals with all aspects of their personal tax compliance, as well as for their associated entities, including trusts, estates and private companies.
YouThe successful applicant will be confident to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels, be commercially aware, and have a clear understanding of client requirements and expectations. Enthusiastic, technically strong and highly organised, with excellent interpersonal skills. The role requires a strong commitment to client service, the ability to manage deadlines effectively and to oversee multiple compliance workflows concurrently. Self‑motivated, pragmatic and proactive, with a positive and professional approach to their work. CTA qualified and would ideally also hold ACA or ACCA qualification. The successful candidate will possess significant experience in UK private client tax compliance, including personal tax, trust and estate compliance, and managing complex client portfolios. Experience of providing written tax advice is required, and supervising and developing junior staff is essential.
The firm will provide training and support to help develop the successful candidate’s technical expertise and wider advisory capabilities within the UK Private Client Team.
