About The Team
You’ll be joining a friendly and collaborative VAT team that works with clients across the UK. We advise a very broad range of clients, and while individuals within the team are encouraged to develop sector specialisms, we are not organised by silos based on technical expertise. You’ll also work closely with other departments like accounting, audit, and private wealth, giving you a broad understanding of how VAT fits into the bigger picture.
About The Programme
Our training contract takes three years to complete with full support and access to first‑class tuition centres.

Your Role and Development
Full practical and technical training will be given in this popular area of tax and no previous experience or knowledge is required. As a VAT trainee, you’ll begin by learning how VAT works and gradually take on responsibilities such as:
- Supporting the team in helping clients understand VAT rules, including how to handle transactions and resolve queries with HMRC.
- Assisting with research and preparing advice on compliance matters for clients, both in writing and through virtual meetings.
- Learning to maintain high technical standards while focusing on practical solutions that meet clients’ needs.
- Contributing to team projects and gradually getting involved in national initiatives and sector‑specific work.
- Helping with VAT returns and understanding how they’re prepared for clients.
What You’ll Need
- 2:1 undergraduate degree (expected or obtained) in any discipline
- A minimum of 120 UCAS points from your top 3 A Levels (or equivalent), excluding General Studies and AS Levels.
- A minimum of 6 (or B) in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent).
