The role
The ‘Commercial Finance Manager\' will be a financial advisor to the firm\'s fee-earning business units, providing financial insights to assist business decision-making. This role will play a key part in supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes. The role will support the Head of Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis in the production of ad hoc analysis on a variety of financial and performance areas that is highly insightful and able to get across key messages in an articulate and concise way. The role will also be involved in finance projects that aim to improve and modernise the firm\'s reporting.
The responsibilities
- Provide a proactive financial business partnering support service to the fee-earning business units and build strong relationships with senior leaders.
- Responsible for preparing financial management information for departments, partners and users as specified.
- Support the fee-earning business units with budgeting and forecasting.
- Preparing ad hoc analysis of performance and trends which might cover; variance analysis, costs, income, profitability drivers, and annual surveys.
- Play a key role in driving data accuracy and integrity, driving correct use of firm\'s systems and data hierarchies, for example client partners and matter types.
- Support the team in developing and implementing improved management reporting tools and processes.
The team
The Finance department consists of 30 Finance professionals, operating across three specialist areas - Financial Control, Financial Operations and Financial Reporting. This role works under the day-to-day supervision of the Head of Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis.
You
- Experienced practitioner with relevant qualifications. Likely to have a relevant degree or equivalent and may be a part qualified or qualified professional within a discipline or have extensive equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience within specific area of work in professional services or a partnership.
- Experience within area to handle most situations without supervision, using judgement/experience to tackle issues, seeking advice on more complex problems. Ability to provide advice and guidance to others.
- Able to establish and maintain strong and credible working relationships and influence others.
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex information/data and understand the impact on their discipline and wider firm.
- Strong computer literacy and understanding of relevant software. Keeps up to date on all required training such as information security.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including communicating with technical and non-technical clients and staff at all organisational levels.
- High levels of commitment and ability to act when necessary.
- Team-focused mentality, understanding that the function must work collaboratively to drive success.
