The role involves working within the UK Private Client Team, providing a wide range of services to private individuals, families, and their associated entities. These services include personal and trust tax compliance, tax advisory support, and general private client project work. The successful applicant will oversee all aspects of a client’s UK tax compliance affairs.

As a key member of this team, you will provide tax compliance and advisory services to private clients and their businesses, with flexibility to mould a portfolio between compliance and advisory services, up to a 50/50 split. You will support partners and directors in delivering high-quality personal tax compliance and advisory services, ensuring deadlines are met and technical standards are maintained.

The responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of private clients, delivering high-quality UK personal tax and trust tax compliance services, as well as ad hoc advisory work.
  • Reviewing UK self-assessment tax returns and associated computations for individuals, trustees, and partnerships.
  • Providing personal tax advice related to income tax, CGT, and IHT.
  • Ensuring compliance deadlines are met by liaising with clients to obtain information timely.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients on tax compliance matters, building strong relationships.
  • Supporting partners and directors with technical input on complex tax compliance issues.
  • Managing HMRC correspondence and enquiries, preparing responses, and supporting partners on complex matters.
  • Liaising with other service lines to deliver joined-up client solutions.
  • Identifying areas where clients may benefit from additional advisory services.
  • Budgeting, monitoring recoveries, and supporting invoicing for client portfolios.
  • Delegating work effectively to junior team members and reviewing their work for accuracy.
  • Coaching, training, and developing junior staff within the UK Private Client Team.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of tax compliance processes and internal best practices.

The team: The UK Private Client Team consists of 5 Partners and close to 30 staff members, advising wealthy individuals and families on all aspects of their personal tax compliance.

You: The successful applicant will be confident in building strong relationships with clients and colleagues, commercially aware, and have a clear understanding of client requirements. They will be enthusiastic, technically strong, highly organised, and possess excellent interpersonal skills. A strong commitment to client service, effective management of deadlines, and oversight of multiple compliance workflows is essential. The candidate should be self-motivated, pragmatic, proactive, and CTA qualified, with significant experience in UK private client tax compliance and advisory.
