The team

You will be part of a friendly and ambitious team which supports the partnership across the firm’s UK offices whilst adding real value to its clients. As an Assistant Manager/Manager within the Valuations Team, you will take ownership of the delivery of a broad range of valuation engagements, supporting clients and internal teams across tax, financial reporting, transactions and commercial advisory assignments. You will play a key role in maintaining the team's technical excellence, developing junior team members and helping to build a high-quality national valuation practice. You will often be liaising with clients at a senior level and will have a close working relationship with the Partners of the firm.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing valuation engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget and to a consistently high technical standard.
  • Leading the preparation and review of valuation models, reports and supporting analyses across a range of valuation purposes, including tax, financial reporting, strategic and transactional engagements.
  • Undertaking robust technical analysis, applying professional judgement and developing practical solutions to complex valuation matters.
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for clients during engagements, building strong relationships and delivering a high standard of client service.
  • Liaising closely with partners, directors and colleagues across tax, audit, corporate finance and other service lines.
  • Reviewing the work of junior team members and providing coaching, training and technical guidance to support their ongoing development.
  • Assisting with engagement planning, resource allocation and project management to ensure efficient delivery across multiple assignments.
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of valuation methodologies, templates, processes and quality control procedures.
  • Supporting business development initiatives, including preparing proposals, attending client meetings and identifying opportunities for additional valuation work.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of valuation theory, market developments, tax legislation and financial reporting requirements relevant to valuation engagements.

You

The successful candidate will be an experienced valuation professional with a strong technical grounding and the ability to operate independently across a wide variety of complex engagements. You will ideally have:

  • At least 4 years' experience within a specialist valuation team, gained in practice, a valuation advisory firm or a comparable professional services environment.
  • Demonstrable experience leading valuation engagements with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Strong experience across multiple valuation purposes, including tax valuations, financial reporting valuations, transaction-related valuations and general commercial valuations.
  • Experience of valuing management incentive plans (MIPs), growth shares and other employee share arrangements for UK tax purposes.
  • Exposure to intellectual property valuations, purchase price allocations (PPAs) and broader intangible asset valuations.
  • Experience applying option-pricing methodologies and Probability-Weighted Expected Returns Models (PWERMs) when valuing securities in complex capital structures.
  • Experience valuing shares and investment portfolios held within family investment companies (FICs).
  • Strong financial modelling skills, including discounted cash flow modelling and market-based valuation techniques.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience drafting valuation reports suitable for client, tax authority, audit and other stakeholder review.
  • Experience coaching, supervising and developing junior team members.
  • Confidence interacting directly with clients, lawyers, accountants and other external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines simultaneously.
