About the Role

Keep 14 drivers moving. Keep the UK operation running. Get machinery across Europe. We're looking for an experienced Transport & Logistics Manager to take ownership of our UK transport operation, managing a team of around 14 drivers and ensuring collections, deliveries and vehicle movements are planned, compliant and delivered efficiently. You’ll also coordinate international logistics across Germany, Italy and France, working with internal teams, third-party hauliers and freight providers to keep machinery and goods moving. This is a fast-paced, hands‑on role where plans can change quickly. What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and support a team of 14 transport drivers, ensuring strong performance, safety, compliance and accurate driver records.
  • Own the UK transport planner, scheduling collections, deliveries and vehicle movements up to 10 days ahead, while adapting quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ensure transport compliance, including Operator Licence requirements, drivers’ hours, Working Time Regulations, tachographs and ADR.
  • Coordinate UK and European logistics, including machinery and goods movements to Germany, Italy and France, working with internal teams, freight forwarders, carriers and customs agents.
  • Manage third‑party transport providers, negotiating rates, raising POs, reviewing costs and ensuring the right balance of service, compliance and value.
  • Monitor and improve transport performance, investigating service failures and incidents, producing reports and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, systems and processes.

About You

You’re an experienced transport or logistics professional with strong people management, planning and compliance skills. You’ll be confident managing HGV operations, adapting to changing priorities and working with drivers, suppliers and senior stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment. You’ll have strong knowledge of ADR, UK transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements, alongside experience managing third‑party haulage, transport costs and complex schedules.

You will have:

  • Proven experience managing drivers and HGV transport operations.
  • Strong transport planning and scheduling experience.
  • Essential: Strong knowledge of ADR and dangerous goods transportation.
  • Good knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachographs, Working Time Regulations and Operator Licence requirements.
  • Experience managing third‑party hauliers, transport costs, purchase orders and invoices.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft systems and ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.
  • A calm, flexible and solutions‑focused approach in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Class 1 HGV licence.
  • Experience managing UK-wide, European or Republic of Ireland transport operations.
  • Knowledge of customs, export documentation and commercial invoices.
  • Experience in waste, environmental, manufacturing, industrial or other regulated environments.
  • Experience with transport planning, telematics, tachograph or fleet management systems.
  • DGSA qualification or experience working alongside a DGSA.
