A specialist engineering contractor is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join its team delivering works on the Sizewell C nuclear new-build project in Suffolk. This is a hands-on project delivery role covering technically complex civil engineering and water-management packages. You will take responsibility for assigned work packages from planning through to completion, managing site teams, subcontractors, programme, commercial performance and client relationships.

The role will involve:

  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of assigned work packages
  • Leading site teams and specialist subcontractors
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
  • Managing relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
  • Preparing Method Statements, Risk Assessments and work procedures
  • Planning labour, plant, equipment and materials
  • Managing programmes against contractual milestones
  • Maintaining project, quality and contractual documentation
  • Producing progress reports and attending project meetings
  • Supporting commercial activity including payment applications, NEC early warnings, compensation events and change control
  • Supporting temporary works, design management and project handover
  • Promoting high standards of Safety, Health and Environmental performance

To be considered, you should ideally have:

  • A degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years’ project or site management experience within construction, civil engineering or a similar environment
  • Good technical knowledge of civil engineering, geotechnical works, engineering geology or hydrogeology
  • Experience managing site teams and subcontractors
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Good commercial and contractual awareness
  • SMSTS and a valid CSCS card
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to obtain the required Sizewell C site security clearance

Experience of major infrastructure, nuclear, utilities, water, tunnelling or heavy civil engineering projects would be particularly useful. Experience of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts and temporary works would also be advantageous.

This is a predominantly site-based position at Sizewell C and will involve working within a live major construction environment. Some flexibility around working hours and occasional travel to other UK locations may be required. This is a strong opportunity for a Project Manager who wants to take ownership of complex engineering packages while gaining experience on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.
