We are recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a growing contractor delivering civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. This is a senior commercial role with responsibility for overseeing the financial and contractual performance of multiple projects, while supporting operational teams and maintaining strong client relationships. The role is based primarily from an office in Hertfordshire, with occasional UK-wide travel to site meetings, likely a couple of times per month.

Project values typically sit around £1m, with schemes ranging from £250k up to £6m. The business is looking for someone with strong civil engineering or infrastructure experience and a very good working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts. This is a key requirement for the role.

Key responsibilities:
  • Commercial management of multiple live projects
  • Contract administration under NEC3 and NEC4
  • Management of change control, compensation events and early warning notices
  • Cost forecasting, reporting and margin control
  • Support with programme and risk register integration
  • Client-facing commercial liaison and internal support to delivery teams
  • Mentoring or overseeing commercial staff where required
Suitable candidates will have:
  • Proven experience in a senior Quantity Surveying or Managing Quantity Surveying role
  • Strong background in civil engineering or infrastructure
  • Very good working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
