Health & Safety Advisor - Water / Utilities Location: Huntingdon / Harlow, covering the surrounding region Salary: £45,000 + package Sector: Water / Utilities / Civil Engineering Employment Type: Permanent An established infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor to support major water sector contracts across the East of England. This is a hands-on role working closely with operational teams across projects in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire, with the majority of work centred around Huntingdon and Harlow. You’ll be responsible for providing practical Health & Safety support across live operational environments, carrying out site visits, advising teams and helping drive improvements in safety performance. The role You will be responsible for: * Carrying out site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations * Providing practical Health & Safety advice to operational teams * Supporting site teams with safe systems of work and best practice * Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses * Identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions * Supporting Health & Safety objectives across multiple contracts * Providing H&S input into operational planning, tenders and bids * Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and performance * Promoting proactive hazard reporting and positive safety behaviours * Supporting compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation What we're looking for Ideally, you will have: * At least 2 to 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety Advisor position * Experience within utilities, water, civil engineering, construction or infrastructure * NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent * Tech IOSH membership or be working towards an appropriate level of IOSH membership * A practical understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation * Experience carrying out site inspections and audits * Confidence working directly with operational and site-based teams * Strong communication and influencing skills * A full UK driving licence Previous experience within the water sector would be advantageous, although candidates from wider utilities, infrastructure and civil engineering backgrounds will also be considered.
