Senior CDM Principal Designer / Health & Safety Consultant Location: Leeds, with UK site travel Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 plus package Type: Permanent, full-time The opportunity A well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior CDM Principal Designer / Health & Safety Consultant to join its growing team in Leeds. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced construction health and safety professional who enjoys a mix of client-facing consultancy work, technical delivery, site visits, and long-term relationship building. The role You will work across a range of projects, providing CDM Principal Designer and health and safety consultancy support to clients throughout the UK. The position will involve: • Delivering CDM Principal Designer services across construction projects • Providing pragmatic health and safety advice to clients and project teams • Attending client meetings, design team meetings, and site visits • Reviewing and advising on construction phase plans, risk information, and project documentation • Supporting clients with their duties under CDM Regulations • Building and maintaining strong client relationships • Managing your own workload and prioritising project deadlines • Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders • Providing a high standard of technical delivery across all work The person This role would suit someone who has operated at a senior level within construction health and safety, CDM, site management, or consultancy. You will need to be confident dealing directly with clients, comfortable managing your own projects, and able to provide clear, practical advice rather than overcomplicating issues. The ideal candidate will have: • A construction or health and safety related degree qualification • Certified Membership of APS • Ideally CMIOSH, GradIOSH, or working towards • Strong CDM Principal Designer experience • At least five years’ experience operating at a senior level • A strong understanding of construction processes and site activity • Previous client-facing experience • The ability to manage projects, priorities, and deadlines • Strong written and verbal communication skills • A practical, pragmatic approach to health and safety • Experience with site management responsibility would be advantageous • A team-focused, flexible, and professional approach Package • £55,000 to £65,000 salary • Company car allowance • 27 days’ holiday plus bank holidays • Employer contributory pension scheme • Private healthcare • Paid professional subscription • Permanent, full-time role Why apply?
