Junior Health & Safety Advisor – Construction
📍 Birmingham / West Midlands 💷 £35,000–£40,000 🏗️ Established construction subcontractor 🕒 7:30am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday 🏢 Mix of site and office working
I am working with an established construction subcontractor looking to appoint a Junior Health & Safety Advisor across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
This is a varied role offering a mix of site-based and office-based work.
You will support the wider Health & Safety team while gaining practical experience across site inspections, compliance, training and general safety administration.
It would suit someone at the early stages of their health and safety career who has some relevant experience and is ready to develop within a busy construction environment.
The role will include
- Carrying out site visits and supporting workplace inspections
- Assisting with audits and monitoring health and safety standards
- Supporting site teams with day-to-day health and safety queries
- Helping to prepare reports, policies and compliance documentation
- Assisting with accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Supporting inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Monitoring training requirements, competency records and expiry dates
- Reviewing and maintaining site health and safety documentation
- Tracking corrective actions and following up with relevant managers
- Maintaining accurate health and safety records and internal systems
- Working closely with operational teams to encourage safe working practices
The successful candidate will ideally have
- Some previous experience in a health and safety role, ideally within construction or a related environment
- A NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate, or be working towards one
- A practical and confident approach when dealing with site teams
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and internal management systems
- The ability to manage several priorities and meet deadlines
- A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in developing a career in health and safety
- The ability to travel to sites across Birmingham and the West Midlands
This is a strong opportunity for a junior Health & Safety professional to gain broad experience, take on genuine responsibility and develop within a growing business.
