Role Description
This part-time, on-site Senior Software Development Engineer role is based in Edinburgh.
The position involves designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that support compliance, risk assessment, and reporting for health, safety, environmental, and security domains.
Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing back-end services and APIs, optimizing existing systems, reviewing code, and ensuring software quality through testing and documentation.
The engineer will collaborate with consultants and other technical staff to translate business and regulatory requirements into robust software features, as well as contribute to architectural decisions and technical best practices.
The role also includes troubleshooting production issues, improving performance, and ensuring security and data integrity across applications.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience delivering reliable, maintainable applications.
- Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
- Advanced skills in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), with a focus on clean architecture and design patterns.
- Experience in designing secure, compliant systems, ideally in safety, security, or regulatory environments.
- Ability to work independently on-site, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
