Resettlement Support Workers will provide high‑quality support to customers living in Union Terrace, a supported accommodation scheme for single homeless people, rough sleepers and homeless couples. The role involves overseeing the daily operation of the accommodation and offering both formal 1‑1 resettlement support and emotional and physical assistance to vulnerable individuals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a well‑managed and responsive accommodation project.
- Provide formal casework support and informal assistance to customers.
- Work independently and partner with other services and agencies such as social care, mental health, drug and alcohol services, probation and police.
- Ensure accommodation is kept in good repair and all health and safety matters are addressed.
- Support the running of the accommodation, including repairs, rent collection, laundry, cleaning and catering.
- Participate in the 24‑hour, 365‑day staff rota, covering weekends, bank holidays and unsocial hours.
- Contribute to service delivery as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, supporting the supervisor and manager.
Qualifications
- Experience working with homeless people or in supported accommodation.
- Understanding of the issues faced by the client groups.
- Experience of providing 1‑to‑1 support to complex individuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with empathy, firmness, resilience and the ability to cope in stressful situations.
- Capability to work on own initiative and in partnership with other agencies.
- Willful completion of a basic Criminal Record Check (unspent convictions only) via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Working Hours
Shift patterns are part of a 24‑hour coverage rota and may include weekends, bank holidays and unsocial hours.
