Job Description

IDVA -Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (males) – DYN Project\\n\\nBased:. Cardiff main office, when meeting clients other travel is expected.\\n\\nSalary Scale: £24,302.07 – £25,053.75 – £25,828.61\\n\\nHours per week: 36:25 hours 5 days per Safer Wales pays 10% Pension, Westfield Health Foresight Cash Plan\\n\\nContract Length: Fixed term basis to 31st March 2026, maybe extended subject to funding. Offer is subject to Eligibility to Work in the UK check, satisfactory references and enhanced DBS.\\n\\nClosing date : 07th Aug 2025 – Interviews held on 19th – 20th Aug2025(TBC)\\n\\nSafer Wales is an independent charity whose mission is to support, protect and empower groups of people that are often invisible in society.\\n\\nOur dedicated team of staff and volunteers has helped protect tens of thousands of people of all ages, genders and backgrounds, including victims of domestic violence, sex workers, hate crime victims and ex-offenders.\\n\\nOur Dyn project provides support to Heterosexual, Gay, Bisexual and Trans men who are experiencing domestic abuse from a partner.\\n\\nWe are now recruiting for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor to work within our Dyn project.

The successful candidate will provide specialist gender specific support and advocacy to men who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual violence. This will include offering support and expertise, and to link in, where appropriate, with existing services and wider support networks for men.\\n\\nThe service elements for which the post-holder will be responsible:\\n\\n * Service Delivery\\n\\n * Client Management\\n\\n * Multi-Agency Partnership working\\n\\n * Supporting Safer Wales with future development of our services\\n\\nJob Summary\\nThe Independent Domestic Violence Advisor will provide specialist gender specific support and advocacy to men who have experienced domestic abuse/sexual violence, to offer support and expertise, and to link in, where appropriate, with existing services and wider support networks for men. The service elements for which the post-holder will be responsible: Service Delivery; Client Management; Multi-Agency Partnership working, Supporting Safer Wales with future developments.\\n\\nDuties\\n\\n * Interview and assess men who have been or are at risk of Domestic abuse and/or Sexual violence wishing to engage with the Independent Domestic Violence Advisor within Safer Wales\\n\\n * Provide support, appropriate assessment, Safety planning, information and advice to men who have been or are at risk of Domestic abuse and/or Sexual violence who experience difficulties accessing services.\\n\\n * Work with all relevant agencies, to identify appropriate referral routes.\\n\\n * Help men to access services to which they are entitled e.g.

through setting up referral systems to health services, making referrals to Domestic abuse agencies, e.g refuges, mental health/counselling agencies, children services etc\\n\\n * Engage with men who have been or are at risk of Domestic abuse and/or Sexual violence ensuring that all relevant referrals and support has been identified and support offered. Ensure all relevant referrals have been completed and followed up and the men who have been or are at risk of Domestic abuse and/or Sexual violence are able to access the service.\\n\\n * Empower and support men who have been or are at risk of Domestic abuse and/or Sexual violence who find it difficult to engage with services.\\n\\n * Liaise with other professionals, community groups public, third and private sector partners when appropriate to support people who have been or are at risk of Domestic abuse and/or Sexual violence who are engaging with the Safer Wales Independent Domestic Abuse advisor\\n\\n * Work with all multi-agency partners engaged with men who are at risk of Domestic abuse and/or Sexual violence to ensure effective networks and seamless joined-up services\\n\\n * Manage and be responsible for a caseload of men who have been or are at risk of Domestic abuse and/or Sexual violence, some of whom will be registered with other partner agencies.\\n\\n * To participate in the development of Safer Wales VAWDASV services\\n\\n * To ensure the effective implementation of Safer Wales policies, specific IDVA services policies, and those relevant to the various funding agencies, on a day-to-day basis, in relation to clients, staff, and all aspects of service provision.\\n\\n * To ensure that all case recording and other documentation is up to date, in accordance with Safer Wales standards and procedures, and that all information is held confidentially.
