Safer Sphere is an award-winning national consultancy specialising in Construction Health and Safety, Building Safety and CDM. As our Building Safety Occupation team continues to grow, we are looking for Consultants, Senior Consultants and Principal Consultants to join this exciting and expanding service area.

Working alongside our Associate Director – Building Safety Occupation, you will support Accountable Persons (APs) and Principal Accountable Persons (PAPs) in meeting their duties under Part 4 of the Building Safety Act 2022, helping clients manage building safety risks and prepare for Building Safety Regulator scrutiny. This is a consultancy role focused on problem-solving, relationship management, regulatory compliance and providing practical advice that helps clients achieve and maintain compliance.

The Role

You will work with clients responsible for occupied Higher-Risk Residential Buildings, helping them understand their responsibilities, assess their current arrangements and develop the documentation and processes required to demonstrate compliance. The role combines technical review, client engagement, project delivery and advisory support, providing a varied workload across a range of residential portfolios and building types. You will play a key role in helping clients prepare for Building Assessment Certificates and demonstrate compliance with their statutory duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and client teams.
  • Lead and participate in project meetings, workshops and client reviews.
  • Review and analyse technical information and documentation relating to occupied Higher-Risk Buildings.
  • Assess compliance against the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated guidance.
  • Complete gap analysis reviews and provide practical recommendations.
  • Support the preparation and review of Safety Case Reports.
  • Support the preparation and review of Resident Engagement Strategies.
  • Assist with Mandatory Occurrence Reporting arrangements and documentation.
  • Support clients in meeting Golden Thread information requirements.
  • Assist clients with Building Assessment Certificate readiness and submissions.
  • Undertake site visits to occupied Higher-Risk Buildings.
  • Identify project risks and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Support continuous improvement and development of the Building Safety Occupation service.
  • Identify opportunities where wider Safer Sphere services can support client needs.

What we're looking for

We're seeking experienced professionals with a strong understanding of building safety, regulatory compliance and risk management who can provide assured, evidence-based support to clients responsible for occupied Higher-Risk Residential Buildings. Depending on the level of role applied for, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Relevant consultancy, regulatory or professional experience within building safety, fire safety, housing, compliance or the management of buildings.
  • Strong experience analysing, interpreting and understanding complex information, technical documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing project work to deadlines and balancing multiple priorities.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective client relationships, providing trusted advice and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Experience producing clear, evidence-based reports, recommendations and technical documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong risk-based decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues, assess implications and recommend practical solutions.
  • A highly organised approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard business software applications.

For Senior and Principal Consultant appointments, we're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Significant consultancy, regulatory or professional experience relating to the safety and management of buildings.
  • Experience leading complex projects and supporting key client relationships.
  • The ability to provide technical guidance and mentoring to colleagues.
  • A strong understanding of regulatory compliance and evidence-based decision making.
