We are looking for an experienced, passionate and dedicated Registered Manager to lead our established 4-bed children's residential home in Lightwood, Stoke-on-Trent. Our home is already registered with Ofsted and proud to hold a Good rating — a testament to the dedication of our existing team and the quality of care we provide.

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the safety, wellbeing and development of the young people in our care. You will lead, inspire and develop a skilled staff team, whilst maintaining and building upon our strong Ofsted rating.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strong, visible leadership to the staff team, fostering a culture of high standards, respect and continuous improvement
  • Ensure full compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Ofsted quality standards framework
  • Develop, implement and review individual care plans, risk assessments and placement plans for each young person
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, their families, placing authorities and external professionals
  • Manage budgets, rotas, staffing levels and HR matters including supervision, appraisals and performance management
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times, acting as designated safeguarding lead
  • Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, maintaining accurate records and evidence of outcomes
  • Drive quality assurance, undertaking regular audits and implementing learning from incidents and complaints
Essential Requirements
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards, with commitment to complete)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a senior role within children's residential care
  • Full understanding of the Children Act 1989, Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and relevant legislation
  • Proven track record of achieving positive Ofsted outcomes
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable
  • Experience managing a home for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) or trauma backgrounds
  • Training in therapeutic approaches such as PACE, Dyadic Developmental Practice or similar
  • Experience of Ofsted inspections as the Registered Manager
