You will be required to:
- Supervise a team of Healthcare Associates and ensure that good quality care is provided in accordance with departmental procedures, guidelines, and professional standards.
- Uphold the standards of the Company in day-to-day practice and represent the Company in a professional and positive manner when dealing with others.
Skills & Qualifications required:
- Working towards an NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care.
- Must be able to work as part of a team to cultivate a safe, homely, and trusting environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Promote good team working by example and sharing of best practice.
- Must be able to relate to the people who live at the care home.
- Must be able to work in a professional manner at all times.
- Responsible for attending and maintaining ongoing mandatory and other training as required.
- A satisfactory DBS check.
- Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
- Qualification in safe handling of medicines.
As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for:
- Support and training of junior staff members in all aspects of their work in the home, under the supervision of the Home Manager.
- Ensuring that tasks are performed that a caring relative might normally carry out.
- Responding to the physical, personal, emotional, religious, cultural, and spiritual needs of the resident.
- Ensuring care staff have received a handover either verbally or written.
- Reporting to the Home Manager or person in charge any illness of an infectious nature incurred by a resident, colleague, self, or another.
- Ordering, storing, and dispensing medication and ensuring correct recording of all relevant information relating to medication.
- Completing supervision for care staff and audits when required.
- Reviewing assessment of need and individual care planning consultation with the Home Manager, family, and Social Services.
- Reporting on the well-being of residents and liaising with GPs and other professionals as necessary.
- Encouraging communication with residents to assist the individual in retaining their sense of identity.
- Using equipment and aids safely and appropriately.
- Ensuring effective, clear channels of communication with other staff and professionals.
- Respectfully maintaining professional relationships and clear boundaries with residents, visitors, and staff.
- Honouring confidentiality by protecting residents and staff information at all times.
- Striving to work in a respectful and tactful way, with regard to equal opportunities.
- Regularly reporting to the Home Manager any problems, concerns, training needs, and other relevant issues.
- Understanding and following policies and procedures.
- Undergoing personal supervision and performance appraisals with line manager.
- Assisting the line manager with monitoring and evaluation of home activities.
- Reporting incorrect use or wasting of resources to the Home Manager.
- Notifying the Home Manager or person in charge as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty and also on your return to work for your next shift from all periods of absence.
