We are seeking a proven leader with a strong Ofsted track record, capable of delivering excellence in residential childcare. The successful applicant will be experienced in managing or registering a home rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ and will bring passion, professionalism, and a child-centred approach to every aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Children’s and Young People’s Workforce (Residential Childcare).

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in an Ofsted-registered children’s home.
  • Proven track record of achieving ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted inspection ratings (verifiable).
  • Previous experience registering or supporting the registration of a new home with Ofsted.
  • In-depth understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Regulation 44 reporting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child safeguarding, child protection, and LADO procedures.
  • No live LADO or safeguarding referrals within the last six months.
  • Enhanced DBS check (clean) and full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Ofsted compliance, audits, and inspection processes.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining professional relationships with Ofsted, local authorities, CAMHS, education, and health partners.
  • Sound financial and operational management capability.
  • Emotionally resilient, proactive, and calm under pressure.
  • Committed to trauma-informed, therapeutic practice and achieving positive outcomes for young people with EBD.

Applicants who have not managed or registered an Ofsted-regulated children’s home, or who do not meet the required qualifications and experience, will not be considered.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
  • Performance Bonus: Available and linked to Ofsted outcomes and operational success
  • Benefits Include:
    • Attractive performance-related bonus scheme.
    • Referral bonus for recommending successful candidates.
    • Opportunity to lead and shape a new two-bed EBD service to Ofsted excellence.
    • Support with Level 5 Leadership qualification (if not yet achieved).
    • Ongoing CPD, training, and professional development.
    • Clear career progression within a growing, values-led organisation.
    • A supportive environment focused on quality, integrity, and child-centred care.
