Band
3 for applicants who already hold a Care Certificate; otherwise Band 2 with support to obtain the certificate within 12 months.
Contract
Initial 12‑month contract, subject to completion of the Care Certificate. Contract extension will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
Reporting to
Deputy Service General Manager/Head of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of the multidisciplinary ward/departmental team, providing patient care and support functions including clerical duties.
- Perform delegated, supervised work and duties assigned by a Registered Nurse/midwife, ensuring continuous feedback on patient conditions.
- Assist in regular assessment of patient condition by observing vital signs and reporting findings to qualified staff.
- Support promotion of health and prevention of ill‑health for staff, patients and their relatives.
- Help maintain a safe and pleasant environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.
- Check readiness of emergency/special equipment and report any faulty equipment to shift coordinators.
- Keep up to date with all mandatory training requirements for the post.
- Maintain knowledge of all relevant Trust policies, including the Major Incident Plan.
- Adhere to relevant parts of national legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH Regulations and Moving and Handling Regulations.
- Transport people and items safely and within time consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Care Certificate, or willingness to obtain it within 12 months.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide accurate feedback to nursing staff.
- Commitment to maintaining patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
- Understanding of health and safety legislation and the ability to comply with Trust policies.
