Safefood is an implementation body set up under the British-Irish Agreement with responsibility on an all-island basis for promotion of food safety and healthy eating, research and fostering scientific co-operation. Director of Science Applications are invited for the position of Director of Sciencebasedin our Cork office. The Director of Science will provide strategic leadership for Safefood's scientific and evidence functions across food safety, nutrition, public health, emerging food system challenges and other technical disciplines. The Director of Science will lead the development and application of high-quality scientific evidence to inform policy, programmes, communications and public health interventions across the island of Ireland. They will foster collaboration between scientific, policy, communications and operational functions to ensure that Safefood maintains its position as a trusted, evidence based organisation which works collaboratively to adopt a systems based approach to improving public health outcomes across the island of Ireland. Qualifications and Experience A degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health or another relevant scientific discipline Significant senior leadership experience, including at least 5 years post qualification senior management experience within nutrition or Food Science Proven experience developing and delivering organisational strategy and evidence of leading organisational change and continuous improvement. Significant demonstrable experience leading and motivating multidisciplinary professional teams, of showing sound judgement and strong interpersonal skills Experience of leading stakeholder collaboration and partnership with senior stakeholders across government, academia or public sector organisations. In-depth knowledge and understanding of key food safety, nutrition and public health issues on the island of Ireland. Salary Principal Officer €102,744 - €127,086 NPPC.
