Safe Space Housing (SSH) is a supported accommodation provider committed to alleviating homelessness and its detrimental effects in the Leeds area. We work with vulnerable male adults, specifically male prison leavers, supporting them to reintegrate into mainstream society. Through the provision of safe, high-quality housing and targeted support, we help individuals develop the skills needed to lead positive, productive, and independent lives.
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Handyman / Maintenance Operative to maintain and repair our supported housing properties across Leeds. This role is key to ensuring our homes remain safe, functional, and welcoming for residents. The ideal candidate is practical, dependable, and understands the importance of maintaining properties in a supported housing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out general property maintenance and repairs
- Basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and decorating
- Repairing doors, locks, fixtures, and fittings
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Respond to maintenance issues in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure properties meet health and safety standards
- Report larger repair needs to management
- Maintain tools, materials, and a tidy work environment
- Proven experience in a handyman or property maintenance role
- Good all-round maintenance knowledge
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
- Valid UK driving licence and access to transport
