About the Performance and Medicine Team
Our mission is to support every athlete in reaching peak performance while reducing injury risk. Through a multi‐disciplinary approach that blends sports science, nutrition, medicine, and psychology, we deliver personalised programs tailored to each player's needs. We work closely with coaches to balance training loads, guide recovery, and provide insights into player readiness. Mental wellness is also a key focus, with sports psychologists helping athletes build resilience under pressure.
The Opportunity
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Performance Chef to join our team in a fixed‐term role until May 2026 to cover maternity. You will provide the highest standard of nutritional food and beverages to support our players' performance and recovery. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and creating innovative menus aligned with our nutritional philosophy.
- Developing SOPs to ensure consistent delivery.
- Delivering educational sessions on cooking, nutrition, and food hygiene at the club's Academy site, supporting the development of young players and scholars.
- Accompanying teams on domestic and international away trips as required.
What We Ask For
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Performance Chef with a strong commitment to maintaining food safety standards and a Food Safety Level 3 certification (essential). In this key leadership role, you will:
- Coordinate the Junior Chefs.
- Assume additional responsibilities in the absence of the Performance Senior Sous Chef.
- Maintain your professional qualifications and undertake relevant CPD to support your ongoing development.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS from Sunderland AFC (required).
