About You
We are recruiting a highly talented and experienced Assistant Head Sommelier to join our Team. As an Assistant Head Sommelier, you would have an eye for detail and be passionate and highly knowledgeable about wines. You will provide excellent and consistent service that is in line with our standards, going beyond the call of duty to ensure that every guest enjoys a lasting and memorable experience.
Responsibilities
- Possessing thorough knowledge of wines and London's restaurant industry.
- Assisting the Head Sommelier with the Wine List.
- Continuously educating and training the restaurant Team to enhance their wine knowledge.
- Delivering all aspects of the guest experience according to our standards.
- Assisting with performing stock takes.
- Assisting with producing financial reports.
- Collaborating with the culinary Team to create wine pairing menus.
- Staying updated on industry trends and new wine releases.
- Guest Service: taking orders, providing recommendations, and offering excellent customer service, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for every guest.
- Assisting the Head Sommelier with reviewing wine revenue, cost and latest wine trends to devise well‐informed adjustments to our wine sales and buying strategy.
- Additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Assistant Head Sommelier in an upscale restaurant setting.
- The ability to influence others through skills, knowledge, and guidance.
- Ability to maintain confidence and oversight in a high‐volume brasserie during busy periods.
- Strong comprehension of the wine industry and its trends.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and engaging personality.
- Willingness to assist colleagues during busy periods.
- Passion for creating memorable guests' experiences and providing exceptional customer service.
- Certification in sommelier training desirable such as WSET or Court of Master Sommelier.
