Role Description
The Senior Accountant will manage and review financial statements, general ledgers, and management accounts for a portfolio of business and personal clients. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial reports, overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations. The role involves supervising junior team members, reviewing their work, and providing mentorship and technical guidance. The Senior Accountant will liaise directly with clients, offering insights on financial performance, supporting business planning, and contributing to audit engagements and tax computations. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kingston Upon Hull.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills, including financial reporting, management accounts preparation, and general ledger management.
- Experience with audit procedures, compliance reviews, and assurance engagements.
- Proficiency in tax compliance and planning for businesses and individuals.
- Comfort with accounting software and related digital tools, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and client relationship skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and support junior team members.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) or substantial relevant experience at a senior level.
- Experience in practice-based accountancy, ideally serving sectors such as construction, retail, or manufacturing.
- Ability to work on-site in Kingston Upon Hull and manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
