A rare opportunity to Own, Build and Deliver in a scaling Welsh fintech. We are working exclusively with a well-established and ambitious fintech business based in Wales, a mature, trusted platform with an impressive product suite and a leadership team with a clear and compelling vision for growth.
You will be working at the intersection of product ownership and solution design, embedded within a small and collaborative platform squad, contributing to complex and meaningful infrastructure challenges that directly support the company's strategic objectives. This is not a conventional Product Owner position. Unlike many roles in larger organisations where requirements are written, handed over to development teams and then lost in the ether, this role offers something far more rewarding: genuine end-to-end ownership, visible impact and the opportunity to see exactly what you build and how it moves the needle for the business.
What this role does not need is someone who operates at a high level of abstraction. The business is looking for someone close to the detail, precise in their thinking, and genuinely driven by the satisfaction of getting things delivered on time and to a high standard.
Responsibilities:- You will take ownership of end-to-end requirement definition, from as-is and to-be process mapping through to breaking complex deliverables down into well-refined, actionable technical tasks that the development team can build and ship with confidence.
- You will design and document service flows, database schemas, user journeys and business processes.
- Manage the Jira board.
- Facilitate refinement sessions and fulfil Scrum Master responsibilities within the squad.
- Be the key point of contact for third-party vendors, internal stakeholders and external API partners.
- Platform resilience, scalability and the reduction of operational toil.
- Proven Product Owner experience within an agile delivery environment, including backlog management, writing detailed user stories, running refinement sessions.
- Experience taking high-level business requirements and translating them into clearly defined, unambiguous technical tasks including process mapping, user journeys and as-is/to-be analysis.
- Technical literacy - read and understand database schemas, interpret API specifications with their inputs and outputs, understand data mapping and identify gaps in technical processes.
- Hands-on experience working closely with software development and QA teams.
- Stakeholder and third-party vendor management experience, with the confidence to communicate clearly and effectively across both business and technical audiences, managing external partners and internal leadership simultaneously.
- Fintech or financial services experience, ideally with familiarity of regulated financial products.
Why This Role? You will have full visibility of the system from front to back, across a broad and varied product suite, and your contribution will be directly tied to outcomes that matter to the business and its customers. You will be joining a small, friendly and inclusive team that takes real pride in its culture, with strong leadership, a well-defined direction and a genuine commitment to the people within it. The business is in an exciting scale-up phase, and the platform squad has been deliberately structured to align with clear company objectives, including customer delivery improvement, platform cost reduction and the expansion of platform capability.
