Duration: 6-12 month FTC
We are working with a leading services business to find an IT Infrastructure Engineer for a fixed term position supporting a multi-site organisation. The business currently runs its core infrastructure on a Nutanix platform on premise, uses Microsoft 365, Azure and Intune for productivity, identity and device management, and is moving more of its infrastructure from on premises into the cloud.
The role covers two areas of work:
- Running, maintaining and troubleshooting the existing infrastructure, including the Nutanix clusters and the Microsoft environment.
- Taking an active part in migrating infrastructure from on premises to cloud environments.
You will be responsible for the hands-on administration of these systems, so the role suits someone who builds, configures and fixes things directly rather than overseeing others who do so.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure administration
- Administer the Nutanix clusters, including routine maintenance, monitoring and capacity checks.
- Diagnose and resolve infrastructure faults across servers, storage, virtualisation and networking.
- Provide systems administration across the estate, keeping systems patched, documented and stable.
Microsoft 365, Azure and Intune
- Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure services used across the organisation.
- Create and deploy Intune configurations, including device policies, compliance settings and application deployment.
- Manage endpoint configuration and security using the Microsoft security and endpoint management toolset.
Cloud migration
- Plan and carry out the migration of infrastructure workloads from on premises to cloud environments.
- Test migrated services to confirm they work correctly before and after cutover.
- Document the configuration of migrated systems so they can be supported going forward.
Multi-site support
- Support infrastructure across multiple sites, including network equipment and application delivery platforms.
Experience Required
- Experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure and Intune, including creating and deploying configurations yourself.
- Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Nutanix clusters (or similar Vmware etc)
- Strong systems administration skills and a track record of troubleshooting infrastructure problems through to resolution.
- Experience with Microsoft security and endpoint management tools.
- Experience with Parallels, or recent experience with Citrix.
- Familiarity with Cisco Meraki networking equipment.
- Experience supporting complex enterprise infrastructure spread across multiple sites.
What’s on Offer
- A fixed term, full-time position with a competitive salary plus benefits.
- Direct involvement in an on premises to cloud migration, giving you practical experience across both Nutanix and Azure environments.
- Responsibility across a broad technology stack, covering virtualisation, Microsoft cloud services, endpoint management, networking and application delivery.
