Project Overview
We require an experienced infrastructure and security engineer to review our clients current environment, recommend improvements, and implement them hands-on. This role bridges the gap between network edge security and core infrastructure. The successful contractor will optimize the Cato Networks SASE deployment while ensuring endpoint security and identity policies are tightly aligned across Microsoft Intune, Active Directory GPOs, and M365.
- Cato Configuration Review: Audit the current Cato configuration across sites, sockets, routing, and security policies.
- Firewall & Policy Assessment: Assess the WAN Firewall, Internet Firewall, and Network Rules to streamline the environment.
- Endpoint & Identity Alignment: Review legacy Active Directory GPOs, Microsoft Intune compliance/configuration policies, and M365 administration controls to ensure secure, compliant device access.
- Remote Access & ZTNA Optimisation: Review remote user access, integrating Cato's Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) with modern identity management.
- Implementation & Documentation: Execute agreed-upon infrastructure and network changes, and deliver finalized, comprehensive technical documentation.
- Knowledge Transfer: Hand over to the internal team, including guiding permanent staff on ongoing rule management and upskilling them on the integrated ecosystem.
Essential Experience for the contract
- Proven hands-on experience configuring and administering Cato Networks in a production environment.
- Strong background managing enterprise core infrastructure, specifically configuring Microsoft Intune device profiles, auditing legacy GPOs, and handling M365 administration.
- Experience designing and rationalizing firewall and security policies across multi-site environments.
- Strong network routing knowledge (including BGP) and extensive experience troubleshooting complex connectivity issues.
- Experience conducting infrastructure health checks, identifying gaps, and presenting clear recommendations to stakeholders.
- Experience linking Cato SASE rules with cloud identity providers (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID Conditional Access).
- Recognized credentials such as the Cato SASE Expert certification.
- Experience handling Azure connectivity into Cato environments.
- Familiarity with Cisco Meraki ecosystems if any legacy equipment remains.
