Sacred Heart School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Physics to join our outstanding Science Team from September 2026. We are looking for an experienced and inspirational teacher of Physics to lead our KS5 Physics provision. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Science and will be responsible for the strategic development and delivery of A Level Physics. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate physicist to shape the future of Physics education at Sacred Heart.

Physics is a successful subject at A Level, and we are seeking someone with a proven track record of excellent teaching and student outcomes. You will be expected to bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and a commitment to high standards. The role involves curriculum planning, assessment oversight, and promoting interest in Physics among KS4 students to encourage uptake at KS5.

Key responsibilities:
  • Leadership of KS5 Physics
  • Oversight of curriculum planning, teaching, and assessment
  • Development of engaging and challenging schemes of work
  • Promotion of Physics to KS4 students
  • Keeping KS5 Physics provision aligned with national developments
  • Organising mock exams and liaising with the exams officer
  • Monitoring student progress and identifying intervention needs
  • Working closely with the Head of Science and wider science team
  • Supporting departmental initiatives and contributing to department development
