Purpose

The Press Operator is responsible for safely performing machine setups and operating the mechanical press line with coil handling and part transfer equipment. The incumbent must control and adjust machine functions and settings, ensuring products meet quality standards and work instruction specifications.

Essential Functions

  • Set‑up and operate the mechanical press line with coil handling equipment.
  • Perform machine set‑ups as needed when the production schedule demands.
  • Troubleshoot machines and adjust the functions and settings.
  • Perform necessary quality inspections to ensure that parts meet guidelines.
  • Test the operation of machines periodically to guarantee smooth running.
  • Perform operator preventative and regular maintenance on the press to extend its operational life.
  • Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety and complies with OSHA and MDSD standards.
  • Participate in 6S activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; a technical degree is a plus.
  • 1+ years of prior relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior press or transfer press experience desired.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical press.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts desired.
  • Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Willingness to learn new job‑related skills.
  • Ability to work off‑shifts.
