Full time - 40 hours per week, based at Flitwick site. Focused on recyclable and compostable products, we design and manufacture award-winning, sustainable food packaging solutions exported worldwide. Our creativity and innovation takes inspiration from our markets around the globe.
As our Engineer, you will:
- Provide fast and efficient installation, diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance to all the machinery, plant and equipment within the factory, keeping the Senior Works Engineer fully informed and up-to-date;
- Carry out basic electrical fault diagnosis and repairs;
- Work with the Senior Works Engineer to facilitate large or major repairs to plant and equipment;
- Assist in the development and implementation of a planned maintenance programme in consultation with the Senior Works Engineer;
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of planned maintenance through reducing numbers of breakdowns and problem-free equipment installations;
- Purchase sundries, machine parts and services, in liaison with the Senior Works Engineer, with due regard for stock levels and overall budget;
- Arrange, assist and direct external contractors for specialist work or installations in consultation with the Senior Works Engineer and Operations Director;
- Participate in the technical aspects of capital investment decisions;
- Advise senior management on Health and Safety issues or concerns.
If you have the following skills and attributes, then we want to hear from you:
- Recent, relevant and proven experience as a maintenance engineer or similar role;
- Higher level qualification in engineering or manufacturing;
- Solid understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanics;
- Familiarity using various power and hand tools;
- Ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy loads;
- Problem-solving and organisational skills - a self-starter who is well organised, positive, flexible and highly motivated to get the job done efficiently and safely using own initiative, and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and ability to work some overtime;
- Confident in communicating verbally and in writing in English.
