A growing FMCG manufacturing business with a strong five-year growth strategy is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant/Finance Business Partner to support its expanding operations. The role will strengthen the finance team and play an important part in driving performance across the business.
Role Purpose
Reporting to the Financial Business Controller, you will take ownership of monthly management accounts, cost and margin analysis, and financial reporting. You will work closely with Operations, Commercial, and NPD teams, using financial insight to support decision-making across the UK and Europe. The role combines hands-on management accounting with value-adding business partnering and continuous improvement activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Management Accounts & Reporting
- Produce monthly management accounts and cost reports with clear, meaningful commentary.
- Prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and ongoing cashflow analysis.
- Monitor working capital performance, identifying variances and recommending actions.
- Support group reporting requirements and contribute to improvements in reporting processes.
- Costing & Margin Analysis
- Maintain and update product costings, ensuring accurate material, labour, and overhead data.
- Analyse product and customer margins, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide financial support for NPD, including feasibility, costing, and pricing proposals.
- Carry out standard costing reviews and variance analysis (usage, yield, waste).
- Business Partnering
- Work closely with Operations, Commercial, and NPD teams to explain financial performance and support decision-making.
- Challenge assumptions, provide insight on cost drivers, and help assess the financial impact of initiatives.
- Support commercial teams with customer discussions, pricing models, and margin improvement plans.
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate costing and financial data in the ERP system.
- Support development of internal dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Contribute to process improvement activities across the finance function.
- Assist with stock-takes, inventory controls, audit support, and capital expenditure tracking.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified or finalist (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
- Strong background in management accounts, costing, and financial analysis.
- Experience in an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
- Confident communicator able to influence and work effectively with non-finance teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and present insights clearly.
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP and Power BI exposure is beneficial.
