As a result of sustained growth, the organisation is entering an exciting new phase of expansion. With increasing demand, new strategic initiatives, and continued investment across the business, there is now a requirement to recruit a highly competent and commercially astute Finance Lead.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Director you will provide robust financial insight, strengthen controls and reporting processes, and contribute to strategic decision-making. You will act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, ensuring the finance function not only underpins day-to-day operations but also drives performance, profitability, and long-term growth.
Principle responsibilities include:
- Ensure the preparation of timely & accurate monthly management accounts.
- Effectively manage, motivate & develop the Finance team & regular review of performance.
- Ownership of the P&L including variance analysis to prior periods & budgets where appropriate.
- Responsibility for all journals including maintenance of Balance Sheet Controls for monthly review by the FD.
- Cashflow forecasting & monitoring against actuals ensuring variances are explained.
- Oversee weekly & monthly payroll & subsequent accounting entries.
- Inventory valuation, including overseeing of the stock takes & review of the WIP calculations.
- Responsibility for the statutory returns including VAT & PAYE/CIS/ONS (but not limited to) in accordance with the appropriate legislation & Governing bodies.
- Liaise with various stakeholders to ensure the Finance Department is appropriately supporting the needs of the operating business.
- Responsibility for the finance systems including the ERP (SAGE 200), ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to produce data that is robust and accurate.
- Lead the Financial audit ensuring timely submission of documents to the external audit team.
- Business Partnering to support the FD &/or other board members, where required, including ad hoc short/long term projects.
Candidate Profile
Qualified ACA/CIMA or ACCA with a proven track record of implementing, and strengthening robust financial controls and processes. Experience within a manufacturing or production environment is highly desirable.
You will adopt a hands-on role in the monthly reporting cycle, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insightful analysis. Beyond technical expertise, you will bring strong commercial awareness and sound business judgement, contributing meaningfully to complex challenges and cross-functional projects.
Highly numerate and analytical, you will combine strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities with the confidence to collaborate and communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation, influencing stakeholders and driving performance improvement.
