Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust provides community and inpatient physical health, mental health and learning disability services for the people of Gloucestershire of all ages. It was created in 2019 as the result of two good trusts coming together as equal partners. We are intent on delivering the aspirations set out in our five-year strategy Better Care Together With You, For You. In achieving our mission of enabling people to live the best lives they can, we are committed to delivering excellent, high-quality services and to being an integral part of the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.
Focused on transforming our services by co-producing what we do with the people and communities we serve, we are building on their strengths and using their insights to drive change. We have a clear focus on tackling inequalities and promoting inclusion and are using both quality improvement methodologies and technology to provide excellent services that enhance access and choice. As we enter the next crucial phase of development, we are seeking a Non-Executive Director who shares our passion for community health services, and our vision and values.
Our Trust’s Board of Directors is legally responsible for the strategic day-to-day operational management of the Trust, its policies and its services, and also holds the Executive Directors to account.
Our colleagues, governors and the public are invited to attend all six public board meetings each year; the Board is supported by governance committees and establishes short-life board committees from time to time.
Our new appointee will have demonstrable senior experience and expertise of working in/with community partnership / third sector / voluntary sector organisations, as well as experience of engaging with partner organisations, and co-production. We are also seeking candidates with strong connections to and/or in-depth knowledge of the Gloucestershire geography.
We have in excess of 5000 staff working over 50 sites, providing a diverse range of services. We strive to support an organisational culture that is welcoming, builds and celebrates inclusivity and diversity and provides a sense of belonging and trust.
The annual NHS Staff Survey gives our people the opportunity to tell us about their experience working at the Trust. For the 2023 survey just over 2800 colleagues gave us their views (58.5%). It was great to see from the results that colleagues are saying that:
- 89.7% believe they are making a positive difference to patients/service users;
- 73.3% would recommend the organisation as a place to work;
- 82.4% agree that care of patients and service users is the organisations priority;
- 76.7% would be happy with the standard of care for a friend or relative.
Our results put us as 5th nationally as a Community, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities NHS Employer of Choice and 1st equal amongst all NHS Provider Trusts in the South West. However, we know we have more to do and will continue to drive forward our commitment to making GHC a Great Place to Work.
