Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust provides care for approximately 600,000 adults, children, and young people across Gloucestershire, including community inpatient and outpatient services, public health nursing, community nursing and therapy staff. To excel in this role you will require excellent communication skills, the courage to make clinical decisions and a willingness to develop your potential. You will require current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse; post-registration experience is helpful but not essential. We offer a preceptorship programme for newly qualified nurses and a comprehensive induction program with support from the practice development team to help you acquire and maintain competencies.

This post is subject to a DBS check and successful candidates are expected to undertake a DBS check at their own cost and sign up to the DBS update service. We welcome applications from newly qualified individuals.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Working as a member of the Community Nursing Team within an Integrated Community Team (ICT) delivering care to patients resident within an Integrated Care Team population.
  • Providing a high standard of skilled nursing care to people in their own homes or clinic settings.
  • Managing the Community Nursing Team and Nursing Caseload in the absence of the Team Leader - District Nurse / Senior Community Nurse (for annual leave, study leave & sickness).

The trust has a flexible working policy and works with staff to meet service needs. This post requires undertaking all statutory and mandatory training and the ability to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health. A valid UK driving licence plus use of own transport for business purposes is essential.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Nursing degree or diploma
  • Willingness to undertake further training
  • NMC registered
  • Desirable: evidence of continued learning
  • Experience: working without direct supervision; experience with students or learners in practice
  • Desirable: previous experience of Community Nursing; post registration training; teaching and assessing qualification
