This role is offered on a permanent basis and is part-time at 18.75 hours per week. Based in Gloucestershire, we are looking for a Diabetes Specialist Dietitian to join our Community Diabetes Service.
Our team delivers Type 2 diabetes care through a multidisciplinary approach and supports professional development, equality and respect. The service upskills primary and secondary care colleagues to manage Type 2 diabetes effectively and includes a caseload of complex patients requiring specialist support. The role involves delivering both remote and face-to-face patient consultations and education.
Base location: Southgate Moorings, Gloucester with some home working, virtual groups, meetings, and telephone consultations. Travel to sites around Gloucestershire may be required; a UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are necessary.
We encourage ongoing learning and involvement in specialist groups, such as the British Dietetic Association Diabetes Group and Diabetes UK. There may be opportunities for additional hours with other services depending on experience.

In this role you will be an integral member of the Community Diabetes Service, providing evidence-based dietetic care, managing your own caseload, and working with a multidisciplinary team. You will deliver remote and face-to-face patient consultations and education to support patients, families, carers and other health and care professionals to improve outcomes for people with Type 2 diabetes.
Your base will be at Southgate Moorings, Gloucester, with flexible arrangements including home working and virtual/telephone contacts.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist dietetic assessments, education and treatment programmes in community settings and remotely.
- Use high-level specialist clinical knowledge to identify and address complex patient needs (medical, nutritional, psychological, social) and tailor treatment options.
- Apply advanced communication and behaviour change techniques to support patients with multifaceted dietary needs and barriers to communication.
- Support primary health care teams and other healthcare professionals with information to enable management plans and up-to-date nutritional resources.
- Engage in service evaluation, audit, practice development, and training of students; participate in change processes and service improvement.
- Identify and meet personal learning needs using internal and external training resources, including conferences.
- Must be a registered Dietitian with relevant experience in diabetes care.
- Driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes (UK driving licence required).
- Ability to work flexibly across sites and in remote/virtual settings.
- Patient families and carers; Healthcare professionals including GPs, Primary and Secondary Care Teams, Allied Health Professionals, Nursing Staff, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Consultants.
