Netsimco, a Saalex Company is seeking a skilled and proactive Computer Systems Analyst II in Newport, RI to manage and optimize our Local Area Network (LAN) using Cisco equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cisco network devices and a deep understanding of network architecture, design, and troubleshooting. This position will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency, security, and scalability of the organization's network infrastructure, providing reliable connectivity and supporting day-to-day network operations.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $70k-$75k annually (depending upon experience)
Work Location: Full-Time onsite
Work Schedule: 8am-4:30pm five days per week
Key Responsibilities
- Network Management: Oversee and maintain the organization's LAN infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. This includes configuration, installation, and support of all Cisco networking hardware and software.
- Configuration and Setup: Configure and deploy Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and other network devices to create a secure, high-performing LAN environment.
- Network Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve network issues (hardware, software, connectivity) by analyzing logs, running diagnostics, and applying necessary fixes to maintain network performance and availability.
- Network Optimization: Monitor network performance using network management tools and proactively implement optimization measures to ensure speed, reliability, and scalability. Suggest improvements for network efficiency.
- Security Management: Implement and manage security policies and access control lists (ACLs), to protect the integrity of the LAN.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation on network configurations, topologies, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT staff, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of network systems and support the broader technology infrastructure of the organization.
- Upgrades and Maintenance: Plan, schedule, and execute network hardware/software upgrades and routine maintenance tasks to ensure the continued smooth operation of the LAN.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an office environment, which may require occasional lifting of networking equipment.
- Some on-call availability may be required for emergency network issues.
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing Cisco-based network infrastructures in a professional environment.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher is required.
- Additional certifications like Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) are highly desirable.
- Experience with LAN/WAN architecture and network security best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex network issues.
- Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting is a plus.
- Good communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Security Clearance
Must be eligible to obtain a secret clearance. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
