Job Title: Primary KS1 Supply Teacher

Location:Hull and surrounding areas

Job Purpose

SAAF Education is seeking enthusiastic and nurturing Primary KS1 Supply Teachers to work across primary schools in Hull. The role involves delivering engaging and age-appropriate teaching within Key Stage 1, supporting early learning and development, and ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment. This role offers flexible working Monday to Friday, allowing teachers to choose assignments that suit their availability.

Key Responsibilities

The Primary KS1 Supply Teacher will deliver pre-planned lessons in line with the national curriculum, adapting activities to meet the needs of young learners. They will create a supportive learning environment, manage behaviour positively in line with school policies, and promote childrens emotional, social, and academic development. The role includes maintaining accurate feedback for class teachers, communicating effectively with school staff, and upholding safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety procedures at all times. Teachers are expected to act as positive role models and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

Person SpecificationEssential Criteria

The successful candidate must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification and have recent experience working within a primary or KS1 setting. A strong understanding of early years and Key Stage 1 pedagogy, phonics, and child development is essential, along with effective classroom and behaviour management skills.

The candidate must have valid safeguarding training or be willing to undertake updated safeguarding training prior to placement, as arranged by SAAF Education. They must hold a current enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to have an enhanced DBS check processed by SAAF Education.

The successful candidate must be compliant with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and disclose any relevant convictions, cautions, or warnings in line with statutory requirements. They must also confirm compliance with the Childcare Act 2006, including completion of a childcare disqualification declaration where applicable.

Flexibility, reliability, and a professional approach to working Monday to Friday on a flexible basis are essential, along with the ability to adapt quickly to different school environments.

Primary KS1 Supply Teachers placed by SAAF Education are expected to comply with the policies and procedures of both SAAF Education and the host school, including safeguarding, behaviour management, and professional conduct. Failure to meet these standards may result in removal from placement.
