Export Control Coordinator in Fareham

The Role

This role is part of our Sensor Systems Radar Business Unit in Fareham.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Export Control & Trade Compliance Coordinator to join our team and support the delivery of our global export compliance activities.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a technically advanced engineering environment supporting the export of controlled products, software, technology and services to customers worldwide.

As the export control focal point within the Sensor Systems operating division, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with export control, customs and trade regulations by administering export licence applications, maintaining licence records, coordinating ATA Carnets and supporting international shipment activities.

Support the Saab UK Export Control Manager with export control governance across the wider Saab UK organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit export licence applications.
• Maintain export licence utilisation and compliance records.
• Coordinate and administer ATA Carnet applications.
• Support international shipments of controlled goods and technology.
• Support the Saab UK Export Control Manager with export control governance across the wider Saab UK organization.
• Assist with customs compliance audits and activities.
• Support engineering teams undertaking overseas customer support activities. Provide export control support and advice to projects and procurement teams.
• Produce licence compliance reports and audit records.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of export compliance processes.

Qualifications and Skills

Required

• Experience working in export control, trade compliance, logistics, customs or international trade administration.
• Understanding of export licensing principles and controlled goods regulations.
• Knowledge of UK Strategic Export Controls.
• Experience of UK Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU) licensing systems.
• Experience preparing and administering regulatory documentation.
• Understanding of customs procedures and temporary exports.
• Strong administrative and record management skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple activities and competing priorities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly M365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Desired

• Experience supporting defence, aerospace, security, technology or engineering industries.
• Experience in dealing with the DBT and the ECJU.
• Knowledge of sanctions and trade compliance requirements.
• Experience in preparing ATA Carnets.
• Experience in delivering staff training presentations.
