Overview

Saab UK is part of Scandinavia’s largest defence company, delivering world‑leading solutions and services in defence, aviation, space and civil security.

Saab UK employs over 600 people across eight sites, with specialisations in software engineering, underwater robotics, radars, AI and armed forces training.

The role is based in Fareham, supporting radar and sensors activities, including the G1X software‑defined radar, within the Production department’s Test & Inspection team.

Some travel to Sweden for training and knowledge transfer may be available.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Inspection & Test Team Leader to help achieve production goals.
  • Ensure soldering and electrical loom work is carried out to a high standard in line with company procedures.
  • Test the functionality of produced units and sub‑assemblies, including the G1X radar.
  • Provide training support to colleagues by sharing knowledge and skills where possible.
  • Interpret electrical drawings and follow documented processes, recording results.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the Team Leader or Production Manager.
  • Maintain proficiency with relevant IT systems essential to perform the role.
  • Act ethically and professionally to support business objectives and delivery deadlines.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with team members and other departments.

Qualifications and Skills

• Required Skills

  • Positive, social, results‑oriented team player with 3–5 years of inspection, testing and measurement experience.
  • Ability to inspect to IPC Class 3 standards.
  • Experience with standard test and measurement equipment used in communications, radar or electronic warfare environments.
  • Good teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Strong technical communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Capability to manage time effectively.
  • UK or Swedish citizenship due to handling materials classified as military secret.
  • Good knowledge of electrical and electronic components and principles.

  • Proficiency in documenting procedures, findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to unique challenges.

As part of the role, you may undergo workforce screening activities including Baseline Personnel Security checks, National Security Vetting, reference checks and verification of working rights.

Preference will be given to candidates who can complete a security interview when required.
