The Role:
This is a 6 month FTC role in our Saab Seaeye Business in Fareham. You will have the opportunity to apply what you have learnt in your studies to real world situations. There will be chances to have hands on practical experience with our unique products, while being supported by your managers, mentors and peers. Gain valuable experience by working on innovative underwater robotics with exposure to our industry, technologies and business providing opportunities to achieve your learning outcomes. You will be immersed in the different stages of our design lifecycle; from concept, prototyping, verification & validation to industrialisation and product maintenance. Working on New Product Developments, bespoke customer solutions and sustaining engineering you will have the opportunity to experience design from cradle to grave. Build real experience on real systems, gain industry recognised skills while rotating between different engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new designs and product upgrades for underwater robotic systems.
- Create 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawing using CAD tools.
- Become an active member of a design team, contributing to design review for the release of new products and collaborating with other departments to ensure designs are fit for purpose.
- Build physical prototypes and carry out testing to ensure the design meets requirements.
- Learn about engineering and project documentation, building an understanding of company quality, HSE and Environmental policies affecting design.
- Be involved in continuous learning activities in both technical and soft skill environments.
Qualification and Skills:
- Mechanical engineering, Product Design or related technical discipline.
- Good understanding of design methodologies.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communications.
- High attention to detail.
