Senior Associates in the Disputes Practice of Sigma7 Business Intelligence have end-to-end responsibility for individual projects, from writing proposals, leading on client pitches, creating budgets and negotiating with the client at the outset, to delivery of the final product, with support from the practice head(s) as necessary. Senior Associates have some involvement in public records research, but the majority of time is spent supervising and reviewing the work of analysts and managing to clients and human sources. Outside of case work, Senior Associates support marketing and business development efforts through content generation, attendance at industry events, and ad-hoc research projects. The successful candidate will report to the head of the Disputes Practice.
Duties/ Responsibilities will include:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Sigma7’s clients as a trusted provider of intelligence.
- Review client briefs and create bespoke research plans.
- Write project proposals with minimal input from the Head of Practice.
- Oversee work of junior analysts on individual assignments, including preparation of written reports and liaison with human sources, providing guidance and support as necessary.
- Edit reports.
- Lead discussions with clients on findings.
- Collect receivables.
- Broaden Sigma7’s network of human sources through identification of and outreach to potential contacts.
- Act as a consultant to colleagues on areas of regional/ sectoral expertise.
- Assist in business development efforts, e.g. by attending events and conferences, creating media and social media content.
Skills and Experience:
- 5-7 years’ experience in business intelligence or a related field such as journalism, government, compliance (financial or industry) or law.
- In-depth regional or sectoral knowledge of commercial, legal and regulatory challenges affecting businesses.
- Track record of creative and analytical approach to research. Experience working with information from human sources essential.
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills, including on behalf of others. Ability to adjust plans in response to changing client needs.
- Excellent English-language communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to explain complex events and concepts in clear and concise terms.
- Second language skills are advantageous.
