With a strong track record of successful financial management, and skills in accountancy, alongside substantial experience of management and leadership of others, you will have the expertise and commitment to join our senior leadership team and enable us to achieve educational excellence, while sustaining financial health by optimal deployment of our resources.

Key duties of the Director of Finance and Resources include:

  • Be responsible overall for College financial systems and processes, including payroll and pension administration, and ensure they meet the requirements of probity.
  • Prepare financial accounts, statements, forecasts, and returns.
  • Line manage the finance, estates and catering teams.
  • Lead on the development of College estates strategy, and advise on the resource options to maintain and develop the College estate.
  • Act as a College leader through your role on the College Management Team.
  • Have oversight of College health & safety arrangements.

To undertake this role you will need a high level of data fluency, with good planning and communication skills. You will also need expertise in accounting, managing budgets and forecasts, and successful experience of managing financial computer systems and financial controls. The annual financial statements are prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standards and are externally audited; budget reports and forecasts are submitted to the senior management team and to the Governors’ Finance & Estates committee. You will also manage the College investments, borrowings, and capital programmes. In line with this, the role includes overall responsibility for the maintenance and development of the College estate, although this will be well supported in operational terms by the College Site Manager and his team. All significant estates expenditure is subject to agreement by the senior leadership team, and by Governors.

Main Terms & Conditions:

  • Salary is a spot salary, currently £72,955 pa. Salary is reviewed annually by the Corporation.
  • The contract will be on a full time permanent basis, commencing 1st September 2026 or as soon as possible after subject to the availability of the successful candidate and following recruitment and safeguarding checks.
  • The post is classified as a “senior post” under the Articles of Government and so the appointment and the pay & conditions of service are the direct responsibility of the Corporation.
  • Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days plus 8 public holidays. Leave taken during term-time is at the Principal’s discretion.
  • You will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Salary payments are made monthly by credit transfer in arrears on the last business bank day of the month.

  • All appointments are subject to verification of qualifications, medical clearance, satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory written references.
