We are seeking a fund controller to oversee the production of financial deliverables from Private Markets related products, primarily funds. As a Fund Controller, you will play a key role in the management and operations of the assigned funds. You will own the full fund accounting lifecycle and be accountable for the funds under your control, managing Net Asset Valuations (NAVs), cash positions, and payments. You will be highly organised, directing others to make these happen, using project management skills to track progress and drive success. You will manage 3rd party relationships including managing and interacting with fund administrators, overseeing the audit, and liaising with auditors and other service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Fund accounting
- Oversight of capital activities of funds (subs / reds / calls / distributions)
- Monitoring of budgets, cash and trial balances as required to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all fund NAVs
- Manage transactional flows from subscription to underlying investments
- Support fund audits and applicable financial reporting requirements
- Develop and monitor fund modelling to cover valuations, performance fees, liquidity management and operational expenditure
- Liaise with tax advisors to support investor tax reporting
Fund lifecycle
- Oversee all aspects, from fund formation through to day-to-day ongoing fund operations
- Development of service models to manage funds across multi-jurisdictions
- Support of fund governance (Board, AIFM, Depositary etc.)
Service providers
- Support the management of relationships with service providers, including selection, onboarding and ongoing service review
- Ensure that fund investors receive quality of service and cost optimisation
Regulatory and compliance
- Working to ensure regulatory and compliance activities of the funds are met (e.g. Annex IV, PRIIPS / KID, Tax reporting)
Implement and develop efficient and effective operating model
- Efficient processes and standards including the use of technology solutions to support growth and scalability
- Documentation of procedures
Experience
- 7+ years total experience, with at least 3-4 years within a fund lifecycle role
- Experience working in investment banking, or with a top tier GP is essential
- Previous experience as a fund controller or in fund accounting is required. Experience with structured products is highly desirable
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate high levels of risk awareness and management.
- Demonstrable experience in managing 3rd party contractors/vendors e.g. fund administrators
- Experience with repacking is highly desirable
- Experience managing projects would be highly beneficial
- A professional accounting qualification is desirable but not essential
