The Veterinary Surgeon will provide crucial veterinary input across various areas of the client’s operations. Responsibilities: * Collaborate with the Named Veterinary Surgeon(s) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines * Develop and maintain expertise in laboratory animal science and related disciplines through ongoing education and training * Provide veterinary cover for animal units and clinical services at the facilities * Support the implementation of new techniques, procedures, and technologies to enhance animal care and welfare * Engage with stakeholders to promote a culture of care and professionalism within the company * Provide advice and assistance to staff on the implementation of the three Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) principles * Deputise for senior veterinary staff as needed and support staff training and development * Comply with regulatory, quality, and health and safety procedures, including maintaining records and obtaining necessary accreditations Requirements: * Veterinary degree with professional registration with the RCVS * Experience in general practice or laboratory animal care, including surgical skills * Auditing or inspection experience is advantageous * Strong commitment to ongoing professional development * Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams * Proficiency in surgical procedures and anaesthesia * Interest or experience in animal ethics, welfare science, genetics, or related disciplines is desirable * Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to evolving challenges
