Our client is a global drug discovery and development research organisation, bringing therapies in both Animal and Human Health to the market effectively. We’re looking to recruit a Veterinary Surgeon, to join a team of passionate staff, where you can make a significant impact on animal health and welfare while expanding your veterinary expertise beyond traditional practice. The Veterinary Surgeon will provide crucial veterinary input across various areas of the client’s operations. - Collaborate with the Named Veterinary Surgeon(s) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain expertise in laboratory animal science and related disciplines through ongoing education and training.
- Provide veterinary cover for animal units and clinical services at the facilities.
- Support the implementation of new techniques, procedures, and technologies to enhance animal care and welfare.
- Provide advice and assistance to staff on the implementation of the three Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) principles.
- Deputise for senior veterinary staff as needed and support staff training and development.
- Comply with regulatory, quality, and health and safety procedures, including maintaining records and obtaining necessary accreditations.
Qualifications:
- Veterinary degree with professional registration with the RCVS.
- Experience in general practice or laboratory animal care, including surgical skills.
- Auditing or inspection experience is advantageous.
- Strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Proficiency in surgical procedures and anaesthesia.
- Interest or experience in animal ethics, welfare science, genetics, or related disciplines is desirable.
