Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out comprehensive asset condition surveys and lifecycle assessments across primary, secondary, and academy premises.
  • Identify defects, compliance issues, and building maintenance requirements, prioritizing necessary repairs and capital works.
  • Produce accurate, high-quality technical reports, condition logs, and asset schedules for school leaders and trust executives.
  • Collaborate with internal project managers and consultants to advise on long-term estate planning and asset strategy.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant building regulations, health and safety, and environmental/energy efficiency standards in the education sector.

Qualifications & Key Skills

  • Technical Expertise: Strong technical skills in building surveying, asset condition surveying, defect diagnosis, and building performance assessment.
  • Relevant Qualification: Degree or HND in Building Surveying, Building Performance, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, CABE) or working towards chartership is an advantage.
  • Education Sector Experience: Previous experience carrying out condition surveys within schools, academies, or public sector estates is desirable.
  • Reporting Skills: Excellent ability to interpret survey data and produce clear, concise, and structured technical reports for non-technical stakeholders (such as headteachers and school business governors).
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with client teams, school leaders, and external project partners.
  • Self-Motivation: Organized, self-disciplined, and able to work independently from home while managing survey schedules and tight deadlines.
  • Mobility: Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites within the designated region.
