Staff One are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Estimator to join a well-established construction company in the Doncaster area, with an immediate start available. Our client specialises in delivering projects across a range of sectors, including Healthcare, Education, Residential, Industrial/Logistics and Refurbishment.
About the Role
As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for managing tenders from initial opportunity appraisal through to settlement and handover. You will work closely with the pre-construction, commercial, design and construction teams, while maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and material suppliers.
The successful candidate will be commercially aware, highly organised and able to confidently manage their own tenders, ensuring accurate, competitive and commercially viable project pricing.
- Attend site visits alongside members of the pre-construction team.
- Prepare proposed supply chain enquiry schedules in conjunction with the commercial and construction teams.
- Prepare and issue subcontractor and material supplier enquiries using ConQuest Estimating software.
- Undertake internal take-offs and measurements using Bluebeam / On-Sight software.
- Produce internal Bills of Quantities (BOQs) using ConQuest Estimating software.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with local and national supply chain partners.
- Analyse subcontractor and material supplier quotations, ensuring compliance, competitiveness and value for money.
- Undertake fixed-price analysis and assess commercial risk.
- Complete project CSA requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of Contractors' Proposals and PQQ submissions as required.
- Work collaboratively with estimating, commercial, construction and other internal departments throughout the tender process.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience working at Estimator level within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, standard operating procedures and estimating practices.
- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of cost, risk and profitability.
- Experience across a range of construction sectors, ideally including Industrial and logistics.
- Experience using ConQuest Estimating software.
- Collaborative approach with colleagues across estimating, commercial, construction and pre-construction teams.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
- Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel to sites when required.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional construction or estimating qualifications/membership.
