The Role
As a Telecoms Civil Operative, you will undertake excavations, repairs and reinstatements of all surfaces, including concrete chambers and stone‑masonry work for telecoms infrastructure located within public highways and customer premises. You will follow current legislation, client standard operating procedures and health & safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Competently build concrete chambers of all sizes, undertake brickwork, set frames and covers.
- Reinstate kerbs, slabs, mono‑blocks and black‑top surfaces to HAUC specifications.
- Install ducts, chambers, cabinets and associated equipment; clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standard.
- Use plant and tools such as Stihl Saws, Wacker Plates, Trench Compactors, Ped Rollers and Jackhammers (certification required).
- Install new draw‑rope to customer premises prior to the installation date.
- Accurately complete job sheets, risk assessments, plant/van sheets and other paperwork.
- Demonstrate sound risk‑assessment, hazard‑identification and health & safety practices.
- Treat internal and external clients with respect, and manage company assets responsibly.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and members of the public.
- Ensure full compliance with all current client processes and procedures in telecoms infrastructure works.
Skills & Qualifications Required
- Full UK driving licence.
- NRSWA Units 1–9 required.
- CSCS or EUSR card required.
- Physically fit and able to complete an Occupational Health Assessment.
- Towing and 7.5‑tonne (Class 2) licence is an advantage.
- Knowledge of VMO2 & BT Network is advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 “must‑haves” met: current driving licence, NRSWA 1‑9, CSCS/EUSR card.
