About Us

South of Scotland Enterprise (also known as SOSE) is the dedicated Economic and Community Development agency for the Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway.

Established by the Scottish Government, SOSE represents a fresh approach to driving growth across a very special region in a way that benefits all.

We are the first of Scotland’s public agencies to promote a wider view of the economy and how it impacts all we do.

Jobs, businesses, communities and the environment are all equally important to us.

We want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to fulfil their ambitions, no matter who or where they are.

  • Support the Senior Finance Business Partner with month-end reporting, analysis, budgeting and forecasting for areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor and update finance trackers so managers and colleagues have timely, reliable information.
  • Complete finance approvals within the purchase order system in line with agreed controls.
  • Work with colleagues across SOSE to explain financial information clearly and respond to their needs.
  • Support improvements to reporting, systems, processes and ways of working across the Finance team and wider organisation.
  • Work closely with the other Finance Analyst, providing reciprocal cover during periods of annual leave and absence for key activities and agreed areas of responsibility.
  • The Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes You’ll Need to Have
  • Highly developed Microsoft Excel skills, alongside confidence using Word, Power Point and accounting or financial management systems.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and bring practical solutions to your line manager for consideration.
  • Experience of working in a finance function and preparing high-quality financial information.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing work and meet strict deadlines.
  • The ability to anticipate stakeholder needs and tailor financial communications for different audiences.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach, with the ability to build strong working relationships and respond to evolving operational requirements.
  • What We’ll Offer You

We offer a competitive and varied reward package, designed to cover your wellbeing, your lifestyle, your working life and your future, including generous annual leave entitlement and pension contribution.

Our salary ranges are designed to be competitive, and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range, except in exceptional circumstances.

We operate a hybrid working model balancing working from home with attendance at the office/client premises to meet the needs of our clients, our teams and our employees.

We do require employees to attend meetings/client visits in the region in person on a regular basis.

You may be required to travel to our offices across the south of Scotland region, so access to a vehicle or other means of transport, for example access to work arrangements, is preferable.
